I researched a lot of different styles of water shoes. I would not recommend this new model, instead I would suggest purchasing an older model. : I wore them without socks and had no rubbing or blisters. A really lightweight but supportive shoe! I was disappointed with the new model. A pair will last about 10 months in chlorinated pool water. An update to the hydro sport, the hydro sport 2 has large open mesh for superior drainage capabilities and a tpu quarter cage for support. These shoes are great and super light weight, and I used these on a trip to Costa Rica in February 2017. These are perfect! We were also allowed to jump off of our tubes and go swimming in the river and there were big boulders and rocks on the bottom that we had to walk over and around and the rocks were very slippery. After researching & researching, I found these shoes and read the reviews. Ill be able to walk in these throughout the day and allow them to be wet. When we went cave tubing we had to walk approximately two miles from the time we got off the bus to the time we started our expedition. Also, I wear a size 10.5 but I order the 11. I have recently had a cortisone injection in my right knee and I also have some arthritis in both of my hips. I ordered these shoes on a Monday early afternoon and had them Tuesday! This is my 5th pair in this style and prior to this current style I wore previous styles of Ryka water shoes. Fabric is scratchy and lacks support, as well. Im going to be in Hawaii and am told to bring water shoes. It's an unstoppable force that moves us with every step, every shoe.

They have slight arch support, but I have high arches, so I simply bought some over-the-counter orthotics, and that solved the issue. . They also drain well & dry quickly. These have a really comfortable silky feel when you first put them on. I know that there are water sandals where your toe is covered but the heel of your foot is non covered.
In case anyone else is wondering, I would need to go up one full size to wear these with my giant custom hinged AFOs, but I can get by with my normal shoe size to wear with over-the-counter solid AFOs because the shoe itself is stretchy and the design is so functional. I go to water aerobics about twice a week and recently had knee surgery so did not go for 10 weeks at all. , . The laces are lock laces, which I love to keep my shoes tied tight, but happily they're normal shoelace material. Also the shoe laces are the kind where you can adjust one section of laces without the rest adjusting, so they have more functionality. We walked for miles. The laces are to long to leave without tying them and too short to double knot because the toggle works loose in an hour long class?? Zappos, you are just awesome! I solved both problems by using orthotics made of a rubbery material and perforating them with an awl using the original perforated inserts as a template for positioning the perforations. Wish Ryka would make aerobic water shoes in wide, not every woman is a B average width. Don't worry if you have a narrow foot. These would have been perfectly comfortable as normal sneakers but not without socks.
