Ive been using a Litra torch 2.0 for photographing machinery defects and part failures along with combo of natural light or flash. The brightness of your light can also be crucial. In terms of lighting setups, you can choose to mix the artificial light coming from your continuous source with the ambient light and flash units. It also works when you dont have a particular subject in mind and want to photograph in a confined area (e.g., macro scenes from a forest). For still subjects, you may find that the tools you already own will work fine. These are my current favorite speedlights, the V860 II N flash from Godox. You should look for a welllit subject with a dark background (preferably the background is in shade). A flash can be an excellent source of light for shooting macro images.
