I use lacquers because I can safely use acrylics or enamels over top when doing panel washes or adding damage, etc. I would work in oils it will look better and it gives you the ability to edit and change as you see fit as they have much longer drying time. With the right techniques you can get a great finish with hand-painting or spray cans So its a good way to start out the hobby right!

Before I go too deep in the the hobby I would like to make a brief history trip into gunpla (Gundam) so that you will understand it a bit better. Every modeler was an amateur enthusiast at one time, if it's something that interests you, just keep at it, and you'll be makin slick kits in no time! The gold was applied by masking off the parts I wanted to keep black, then spraying gold. We are going to start by priming it in Vallejo Air Magic Blue, applying several thin coats to completely cover the black primer beneath. Another tool that go hand in hand with the clip is the clip board, this is a board that has a bunch of holes in drilled in itss surface which you can insert your clips into and arrange them in a manner that suits you and your painting process. And I feel like they've improved their quality considerably, the MG Freedom I just built is stunning. However if you dont want to spray a gloss-coat before a flat coat, my advice would be to use the decal softer that we mentioned in a previous episode. Priming does indeed help the paint grab onto the piece and can fill scratches (Mr. Surfacer works well for this, too.) I like the fun contrast in this you make something look really pretty and nice then you just make it really dirty and grim.
