Finally after several times of it back filling and bubbling through the hose at the bottom of resevior bottle and out the over fill tube, the air is out, it seems to come to full pressure and temp like normal but the flow problem seems to be my issue, mainly it seems at the heater core, until it gets a rev of rpms then all returns to normal And you opened the black plastic bleed valve on the top passenger side of the radiator? 2010 Outback premium, 2018 Forester Premium, 2021 Forester Sport. i removed the variable runner valves as well just to clean.

It's tight but I had just enough movement to get the job done. I had a slow trickle after replacing one of mine. I have a 2010 2.5 Outback with a leaky coolant crossover pipe..I have searched over this forum, but I cant find removal and installation instructions on the job.. if it is the top one it is intake comes off and that pipe is EGR. The metal grommets on the three gaskets are there to make sure you don't over-tighten the seal. I didn't unplug the wires to Throttle body because some cars require a relearn if disconnected. 6 hrs of labor to remove right exhaust manifold, egr valve, throttle valve. Both Intrigues have been sold over a year ago, but this thread in my inbox made me post. Took it back off and could clearly see that the o-ring had already started to degrade and harden in less than a week. Nevermind i found out thanks for the tips on how to replace and merry Christmas!!! There very well may have been problems with the gasket supplier, but with this problem being so pervasive to Intrigues, it does not seem that there was an isolated vintage or batch of inferior gaskets.
when you pulled the old coolant pipe, did all of it come out? This of course doesn't make using the crow bar trick any easier with this stuff attached. Another pair of helping hands while prying is recommended. Got a 2013 XFR with 34k miles on her. i can post pics and guide you if you have 2.5 assuming not too different from 2010. The pry bar shortcut worked well after removing throttle body and adapter and left manifold, I removed radiator fans to make that a bit easier, but could probably have done it without that. thanks stan for starting this post and for the pointers on the telephone a few days ago! The Crossover manifold uses 3 identical gaskets with metal grommets or spacers and it seems to me that the metal spacers prevent the gaskets from sealing completely and a blown seal is inevitable. Can you find out the part number?
I dont have a good pic of egr pipe, but it is stainless steel, runs almost vertical, and top port to intake is just under TB.

No way I could have unbolted the manifold on that side. Looking at the quote they're proposing to replace three coolant pipes:- the cylinder head pipe, the lower coolant pipe and the oil cooler hose. coolant f350
coolant gasket reinz 4l f450 The leak will not cause loss of circulation but air in the head or pump would cause it. the seal is designed to provide the correct amount of "squeeze" on the gasket's rubber to seal properly. and only the OEM pipe is worth a damn. I have found that it is not so much the aftermarket pipe but the aftermarket o-ring that comes on them.
It did end up being the coolant crossover pipe. $650 isn't terrible if you can afford it. Check the parting seam on the pipe too when you take the o-ring off. The engine starts easier, runs super smooth, throttle tip in transition is awesome, no flat spots in rev range, runs better than new at 108k miles. Also, the oil cooler hose does leak. Was much easier than removing right exhaust manifold.
Clean gunk off intake valves and replace all of the rest of the plastic pipes in the cooling system (there are many). Advertising -
When the is in service position, its easy to do the JOB CORRECTLY and see what else is wrong. I'm also willing to bet that the gasket today is the same as it was 10 years ago and will leak again - I'll let you know in another 10yrs :). Maybe find an anorexic kid to get the little fingers up there. I'm taking my 2000 Intrigue in for an external coolant leak that I've had for a while.

for July's Outback of the Month Challenge! Removal of front of car does seem excessive. I did'nt need to do any denting of the exhaust pipe. It's nice to see why I couldn't find a flange on that side of the engine. If you have had to add coolant a few times because of it being out or extremely low then I think that is you problem.

I'm guessing due to release of pressure/water from these gaskets and the seemingly unique and delicate cooling systems of the 3.5 Intrigue? But, the design of the coolant pipe connections could apparently have been better too since they all seem to leak after 8-10 years. When removing the Fuel Injector connectors it is not necessary to remove the blue locking clip entirely, instead remove it half-way one click and use small screwdriver to push black tab back then gently remove the connector.

Yes, had air bleed issues. I remember a post mentioning a company that can rebuild the electronics of this Bosch Module, but if I remember it was a few hundred dollars. When the is in service position, its easy to do the JOB CORRECTLY and see what else is wrong.

GM certainly could have done a better job on designing this one. I have determined that it is the o rings on the cross over pipe.. i just had my 2014 2.5 throttle body and intake man. I had meant that the design could have been better thought out to allow access to the pipe by flexing, rather than removing, the manifold.

I just had the coolant crossover pipe replaced as part of the 10-year service; it was leaking. ls1 throttle crossover bypass coolant hose cylinder ls steam port head kit body The main crossover coolant pipe is plastic, gets fragile and just leaks. Ordered a genuine o-ring which was much more pliable and soft and its been good for months now. and its expensive. coolant tundra They are complex shapes with multiple nozzles, I can't find a metallic replacement, so it will have to be a like for like plastic replacement. Make sure all the bolts are off on the EGR valve near the cooling fan and pulled away, there is a 15mm bolt also holding the EGR tube running parallel with exhaust manifold. Replacing the water pump and the crossover pipe as I noticed slight moisture around the WP.
Removing those two bolts allowed me to put my pry bar (crow bar) down between the head and the pipe and move it just enough to loosen the other 2 coolant crossover bolts and lift it up and out with the bolts. I couldn't even see if there was a flange down there or not. Terms of Service -

Make sure the old stuff has been cleaned up and try some lights grease/ silicone spray on the o-ring and a tiny bit on the back side of that waterpump, sounds like its just a little too thick and rolling out.
