I play my drums daily however I am no longer a part of a group. Of all 80s rock/hair bands, Poison was not only huge then (hair and all) but has managed to stay together and continue touring and producing new music. In any other era they mightve just been labeled hard rock, but at some point somebody came up with the probably pejorative term hair-metal, and the name stuck. I am 16, unfortunatly i grew up in the wrong era, cuz im obsessed with hair metal. The late 80s and early 90s were in deed a time of high flying guitar solos, power ballads, flashy spandex, leather jackets, excess makeup, and of course, big hair.
Another band that milked every ounce of MTV's obsession with hair metal, it's almost as if Warrant was the boy band of the movement.

Guns, however, couldn't get along with Rose and split. Serious oversight, probably could have knocked off a couple of songs by artists who already had one on the list like Poison or Motley Crue. WIN WIN!!! So I guess the imaginary line is that metal bands are more about making the heaviest music possible which appeals to a more male fanbaseand hair bands are more about the heaviest image possible which appeals to a more female fanbase.

I had Hair Nation (Sat radio) on the other day and a song played that I really liked - about the only part I can recall is "Here me calling" or "Here the Calling" (it may have been "Do you" OR "can you" before that. Though former lead guitarist Warren DeMartini is one of the top guitar players out there, frontman Stephen Pearcydrew most of the attention with his good looks and sense for pop-metal fashion. Some of these party animals penned dramatic odes to heartache that rank right up there with rock n rolls greatest.
