It's not a strong filter in itself, it's always used in combination with other sunscreen agents. An AHA that comes from citrus fruits. It is a very fresh but manly smell. 
It smells just how it sounds FRESH.

Great value! Once inside the skin, it hydrates, but not from the outside - putting pure water on the skin (hello long baths!) Its one of the EU 26 fragrances that has to be labelled separately (and cannot be simply included in the term fragrance/perfume on the label) because of allergen potential. As for mildness, it goes somewhere in the middle. This would make a great gift.

What research does confirm about Aloe is that its a great moisturizer and has several anti-inflammatory (among others contains salicylates, polysaccharides, magnesium lactate and C-glucosyl chromone) as well as some antibacterial components.
