My personal choice, is that I go places that don't require masks. The ocean-side lifeguard (we didnt get his name) helped us find an incredible snorkel spot near the resort that we rode bikes to and visited 4 times during our stay.

The beach area being closed is a big issue and we probably wouldnt consider returning until its fixed, but you can still snorkel in front of the hotel and its still wonderful. You could swim, and it was beautiful, but they advertise that there are restaurants on the beach, places to sit, and hammock type things, all of which there were none.
