What a piece of garbage. Sent us dimes on the dollar when it was a problem with their manufacturing. Trexs best board Transcends price jumps up to around $5 a lineal foot. The decking appears to have become less flimsy but the railings, though easier to install same to have become more flimsy.
A brand that is synonyms with composite is Trex. THX). I chose to use square slotted deck screws, specifically designed for composite decking and in the same reddish color as the decking itself.
we put in trex deck about 15 years ago and have had none of the above stated problems. It has the best-looking colours of all of Trexs decking with a deep wood-grain texture.
Allowing you to use hidden fasteners for the centre decking and finish off the ends of the decking with a non-grooved board.
Plus its one of the most readily available brands on the market.

Trex gets to determine if you qualify and there are so many hoops to jump thru and forms to fill out they make it impossible.
If screws are used, I recommend using either a professional deck screw gun or pre-drilling each hole to prevent stripping or breaking them. it is grey and just got darker but not that much. Our deck has not suffered any of the mentioned problems, other than several very small flecks of white plastic that has shown through in a few areas and a couple of barely noticeable bubbles that have not blistered through. My experience with Trex is 3 to 5 years down the road, some of the boards start to decompose with UV exposure. I'm not sureand thinkingnot.

With really nothing else available as a comparison, I chose to use Trex, a deck board made from recycled plastic and wood composites. It's been three years and I would do the same again.

It fades terribly and Trex doesn't stand behind their warranty. The areas under cover still retain the wood grain look. Sounds good on paper but in the real world it's lipstick on a pig.

it does get warm but not burning hot that you can't walk on it. As much as all the other factors are important, the look of the decking makes all the difference. Will be contacting my contractor but this isnt acceptable for the amount of money and supposed high quality. It can look nice but is a very difficult rail system to install, especially stair kits Why wouldn't they give you a bracket template inside the rail kit box? We have found that all of the decking directly exposed to the elements has lost all of its simulated grain. Their most economical line is priced to compete with pressure-treated decking.
But I did the dawn soapy water wash and that didnt help. Hidden fasteners are now a preferred installation system, but screws, and even nails, are still an option in certain situations. It doesnt really stand out of the crowd for its other features. We have had it for three years and love it. Better yet, composite decking like Trex Enhance Basics has a longer lifespan than traditional timber. While owning a nearly one hundred year old home on the harsh Oregon coast, the time finally came to replace the rotted covered front porch deck and stairs. This is when I learned that the original Trex I had first used was no longer available. They gave us a less expensive replacement decking material that did not match the railings.

Ive had it with Trex. Had you paid for them would the 2D front of house been worth paying $ 199 .Regular price ? This deck has now been in place for 8 years. Then there was a recall. Especially if I am going to be in the line with a customer when anything goes wrong. Immediately after the installation we walked down the steps along with our family dog only to notice deep scratches on the product from the dog's feet.
The color has faded, as the company stated it would, unfortunately leaving the deck with a rather plain tan unattractive finish. Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC) considers 0.5 as acceptable.
it is a shore home (NJ about a mile from bay, 3 miles from ocean) and in the sun about 4 hrs a day (there are trees around it). Expensive too.. Then, if you do have a complete kit, the damn screws strip and break without any real reason. 
To date this decking is showing superior wear to the original Trex product.

it does need to be power washed, it does get mold/dirt marks in certain areas but nothing a good power washing doesn't remove.

I would only buy a solid core product that does not need a cap affixed to the end to make it look finished. If you use a Trex qualified installer, they include labour with the warranty. You can save a few dollars installing Trex without a huge sacrifice in performance.
Trex is one of the more affordable low-maintenance deckings on the market.
Trex is way too expensive to be such a poor product. 
If I were building a deck today I would research all the available manufacturers and pick one that has positive consumer reviews and the color and finish most desired.

Hi! In 2006 Trex was still offering the first generation Trex Origins. They denied my claim application in 2008, and because my deck was installed in 2000, I am not eligible to be part of the current Class Action Lawsuit, which only covers decking installed starting in 2004.

Had we known this was the case we would have gone with a treated wood deck. There are many things to consider when selecting composite decking. Price possibly should have been first because if you cant afford it, it really doesnt matter if you love it.
Not so with Trex.

Like many composite decking brands, Trex uses a protective covering over the deck core to improve its appearance. I called numerous times.
This was 1999 and a brand new product was just making its way into the decking and railing industry. A composite deck is not trouble free however. By researching Trex, I learned that the company faced two lawsuits for their first generation Trex decking, brought forth by allegations that their Nevada plant, between 2003 and 2006, manufactured a board that was subject to splitting, staining, bubbling, warping, discoloring, etc. As a side note, in 2011 I assisted a neighbor with the installation of a TimberTech deck, also made from recycled plastic and wood composites. But how does Trex perform and compare to the many other decking brands?
Low maintenance and long lasting composite cladding. I decided to use screws again, not as a cost saving issue, but rather that I had concerns about the decks movement due to snow load and the substantial contraction that occurs with a composite deck subjected to extreme temperature changes, all of which I was afraid might compromise the hidden fasteners. Just consistent white dots all over. I even started my own thread asking particularly about Trex Escapes (a PVC) and not a single reply to date (probably because folks are sick to death of repeating that we should steer clear of Trex, period!). Also check out TimberTech PVC decking. Other than a yearly light washing with my pressure washer to remove dirt and a small accumulation of mold, the deck has kept its integrity.
This lawsuit has been settled, with Trex paying for partial replacement of their faulty product and no longer offering the first generation boards to consumers.
Missing plastic brackets that you have to buy a whole rail kit just to get more brackets. A 6 ft trex signature aluminum rail system does not come with a foot block even though in the literature it says any rail section beyond 52 inches needs one.

The modern composite deck can remain beautiful for years with minimal upkeep; although you will always have to admit that you are standing on plastic, not real wood. Customers pay out the nose for this garbage.
